Introducing BT TV

With half a century of providing telecommunications services to the UK, BT is one of the best-known names in broadband, now delivering high-speed services via fibre to millions of customers around the country. And it’s that superfast fibre broadband that makes an especially great home for BT’s subscription TV service, BT TV. Delivered exclusively over BT broadband, BT TV offers a huge range of channels across several channel packs and plans, with superfast fibre services enabling true 4K streaming.

BT TV’s delivery via BT’s own broadband network means that the service is optimised for high quality streaming, and regardless of which BT TV box you get, you’ll also be able to view dozens of Freeview broadcast channels alongside your premium channel packs.

What Is BT TV?

Delivered via broadband rather than the traditional satellite method that other pay TV services use, BT TV doesn’t require you to install any extra hardware outside your home – you just need to connect your BT TV set top box to your BT Home Hub and plug in your TV antenna cable. Depending on the speed that your broadband connection can deliver, you’ll have access to a varied range of packages that combine a BT TV set top box with a range of premium channels and on-demand entertainment.

What TV Packages Does BT TV Offer?

With a vast range of channels spread across four different packages, BT TV has a package to suit everyone’s needs, budget and broadband connection.

Sport: Access to all four BT Sport channels and BoxNation. This includes Premier League football, Premiership rugby, the UEFA Champion’s League and more. Along with access to AMC, there’s also Freeview with access to seven days of catch-up TV from the BBC, ITV and others, and the ability to rent or buy the latest movies and TV box sets on the BT TV store, on a set top box that can record 300 hours of content.

Big Sport: Again with a set top box that can record up to 300 hours of television, this one includes all 11 Sky Sports channels, opening up access to a whole world of premium sports, with access on the go included via the Sky Sports NOW app. Eurosport 1 and 2 are also included in this pack.

Entertainment: The Entertainment package adds a range of extra channels including AMC, Universal, Comedy Central, National Geographic, Discovery and more. You also have access to over 300 box sets streamable from NOW.

Big Entertainment: Adds Sky Cinema to your entertainment options, with access to over 1000 movies on demand via NOW.

VIP: The works, with everything from the Big Sport and Big Entertainment packages – premium channels, sports, cinema, Freeview and everything that comes with them, for the ultimate in TV viewing choice.

Classic Entertainment: A budget offering that gives you Comedy Central, Discovery, Gold and more, along with hundreds of on-demand shows. You can’t upgrade and downgrade this package, but you can still add Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BT Sport and BT Kids.

What Set Top Boxes Does BT TV Have?

Custom-designed for BT TV and stylishly functional in black and silver, the set top box that BT TV supplies under the YouView banner is state of the art.

The base TV Box simply receives BT TV and Freeview – letting you pause and rewind live TV – and access catch-up services.

The YouView G4 Recordable TV Box does everything that the TV Box does, but adds a built-in hard drive to allow recording up to 300 hours of TV from all sources.

Does BT TV Have Premier League Football?

Yes indeed – with BT Sport bringing you 52 Premier League games every season until 2022, Premier League fans will be right at home with BT TV’s coverage, which also includes every match of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.
