Virgin Media TV

Comparison Guide to Virgin Media Packages, Popular Bundles and Best Plan Deals

Virgin Media TV Plans

Richard Branson’s Virgin is known to many if not every Brit – but the entertainment arm’s efforts to truly cement themselves as a significant player in the TV market are comparatively recent. They’ve risen to become one of the largest TV companies in the UK in past years, on the back of significant investment in content and their fibre optic network.

If you’re gonna go Virgin, the first thing to know is that bundling is where it’s at. They aren’t the cheapest for entry-level deals, but they will save you and your household big bucks if you sign up for more than one service. Virgin’s fibre-optic network is world-class – and while it’s only available to just over 50 per cent of the British population, that’s changing fast as they continue to expand their network. They’ve also got a massive selection of channels, keeping even the most indecisive of TV watchers busy.

What does Virgin Media offer its customers?

It probably surprises no one to find out that Virgin’s strength in the telecommunications market is the sheer scope of services they offer. This means that bundling is where it’s at – although they do provide some limited stand-alone TV deals. Their stand-alone deals tend to be comparatively pricey, so they’re probably best suited to those who are unable to connect to the Virgin fibre optic network (but who still want to access Virgin’s top-quality content).

Virgin Media TV Packages and Pricing

Every plan has a £25 set-up fee – no matter whether you bundle or not – and every plan comes with the Virgin V6 box. The Full House comes without broadband and will get you 230 channels – including BT Sport and a bunch of excellent Sky channels in HD. This will set you back £53 per month on a 12-month contract – and add £8 per month for inclusive weekend calls to UK landlines, Virgin Mobile numbers and weekend minutes. If you don’t mind going longer term, take this package on a 12-month deal for £45 per month. That’s a saving of £8 per month including internet.

Bundling with Virgin Media TV

Bundling? The Player comes with 110 channels (including Freeview) and broadband at an average download speed of 54MBPS. Month-to-month will set you back £54 per month with a £70 set-up fee. A contracted plan costs £33 per month for 12 months (then going up to £54 per month after). Sports fans will love the Full House Sports bundle, which comes with over 240 channels, including both Sky Sport and BT Sport – plus free weekend calls. The cost is £65 for the first 12 months, then £103 a month for every month after.

Then there’s the big deal. The V.VIP bundle comes with more than 280 channels with Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD, BT Sport in 4K Ultra HD and the Kids Pick – put simply, if it’s worth watching it’s here. The internet has an average rate of 516MBPS – lightning fast. There’s also free all-day landline calls to select numbers, and a 4G Truly Unlimited SIM. All that will cost £99 for the first 12 months, with the cost going up to £139 a month thereafter.

Virgin Media TV Apps

Virgin Media TV apps

Virgin Media has two apps with different functionality – and both are free. The Virgin TV Go app gets you access to Virgin’s TV content on compatible devices – mobiles, tablets – either at home or on the go (provided there’s sufficient Wi-FI or 3G/4G/5G). Virgin TV control turns your phone into a global remote control, letting you set and manage your recordings from anywhere in the world.

Do they offer free trials?

Virgin Media relies on their extensive fibre optic network, meaning that they can’t offer a free trial due primarily to the set-up costs. They will, however, run special promotions from time to time.

How to Contact Virgin Media

Unlike some of their competitors, Virgin Media is available by phone on 0345 454 1111. Get in touch between 8 am and 8 pm Monday to Friday, or from 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday. Their website also has excellent functionality with live chat, as well as an extensive range of FAQs and help articles which might just sort your query before you make the call.
